A Floral Breakthrough

When your full-time job is a creative job, it takes effort to muster up any creativity towards your side gig. I hate feeling like it’s a job to paint or create, but today I had a creative break through. Sometimes you just have to pick up the paint brush (or the Apple Pencil) and just do it.

Your feelings shouldn’t dictate your actions (or inactions) all the time. Feelings can be good indicators of valid emotions, but they can also prevent you from moving forward if you give them too much attention. A few years ago, I saw my feelings as a guidebook to what I’m supposed to do, but I’ve come to see that feelings can lie to you. Following your heart is not the answer. We should follow facts and truth!

The truth is I need to just start creating. I don’t have to have it all figured out. I just need to begin!

So that’s why I’m on a mission to create a floral print every day this month. This will be a hard task for me, but I’m excited to see how it will push me to manage my time better and seek out inspiration in the ordinary. My hope is that it will help develop my true style and push me to create something from every day.
