French Lesson & A Cool Project
I’ve felt more tired than usual this week, and it might be the result of the ungodly heat that’s churning here in south Mississippi. I don’t know why we act like the summer heat won’t swallow us up each year, yet it always comes as a surprise. A sweaty one at that. I’m actually tired, because this week was really successful! Our creative team finalized a big project that we’ve been planning for week, and I’m super proud of the way it came together!
Erin’s newest candle collection, The Garden Collection, is six fragrances that are based on her “scent memories.” Maybe it’s a concept you haven’t hear of, but Erin remembers important moments in her life based on the scent associated with that memory. I wrote all about it here.
We came up with this idea of recreating each “scent memory” through video. We worked with her sweet parents, Mrs. Karen and Mr. Phil, to bring her Tomato, Fig Preserves and Ouida’s Garden scents to life. We also filmed some pure moments at Mal’s house in her backyard for the Ponchatoula Strawberry, Lemon Icebox Pie and Pear Cake scent (my all-time favorite!)
We posted this on Thursday to launch the collection!
We filmed three days straight to get our campaign complete, and it felt rewarding to see a concept that was once in my brain come to fruition. Our team makes me proud!
When I got home, I had two zoom meetings. A call about about the church’s Women’s Summer Study on Anxiety and my French lesson. I meet once a week to practice and speak very slow phrases. It’s challenging and I get frustrated that I sound like a silly toddler most of the time, but I’ve never been more motivated to learn something that wasn’t a requirement in school. I’m proud to be learning something for fun and because I love France. Each lesson makes me feel more excited to go back and share in the French way of life more authentically.
Until then…. je continuerai à rêver.
Yes, I did use Google translate.
