Saturdays are for Cracker Barrel

I made the trek back to Birmingham this afternoon, and I have never been happier to be home and see my brother and friends. (Missing a few!) We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner, and I whooped Mike’s tail in Checkers and Grant might have beat me. We sat in the rocking chairs, checked out the Americana retail store, and ordered the most unhealthy things on the menu. It was awesome.

We were supposed to go to the Marble Ring after dinner, a beautiful, jazz age inspired bar in downtown, but we opted for a Target run and my apartment instead.

The older I get, the more thankful I become for friends who just want to be with you. Nothing special, no agenda, just quality time together after a long week. I don’t know if it’s the exhaustion or whatnot today, but the image of friends sitting on my couch laughing and feeling comfortably at home made me a little weepy.

I’m just grateful. Tired, but grateful.
