My Stars Hollow

When I was in college and would come home from Ole Miss for Christmas break, the first thing I’d do is drive through the historic avenues in Laurel to see the beautiful houses. They’ve been there my entire life, and I think I found comfort that though I had changed, they hadn’t. In fact, I still have a real attachment to the last one though I’ve never stepped foot in it. It’s called Sweet Olive for obvious reasons. (It’s covered in them.)

Now here I am, working in Laurel once a month, doing the same thing I did years ago. I still dream about what it would be like to have a family and a home on one of these streets. Spending afternoons together in the backyard and taking long walks with Charlie.

P.S. — I aspire to be Sooki St. James in real life.
