Thank God for Laura Jones
Each month I work one week in Laurel for my job, and this is my week in town. It always is a bit of a shock to my schedule/life and internal social energy meter, but after the first day, I get in a groove. Today has been a productive day planning for photo shoots, making a schedule for the rest of the week, and struggling to get everything done before I leave on my trip.
Yet today was sprinkled with tons of little moments that made me thankful to be in Laurel.
Some of the team went and ate ungodly amounts of refried beans and “Big Burrito” platters at the Alamo. This is a terrible photo, but it’s so funny to me.
I even let them in on my insecure and awkward nature with waiters. Does anyone else get extremely nervous about ordering food and interacting? I don’t understand what happens. There has to be a word for this!
Anyways, my hand painted Christmas ornament tradition is continuing this year at Southern Antiques for the the fourth (or fifth) year in a row! Laura Jones, an old friend and unbelievably talented artist, helped me by sketching out my cityscape design for me to finish with paint. I was feeling so anxious about how many I needed to paint this week but she was so helpful. I’m so grateful!
This is just one of my designs, but there will be more! If you’d like to buy one, they will be available at Southern Antiques in Laurel for Christmas Open House on Saturday, November 6th. Go support #local!!
