Midnight in Birmingham
This week has been full of anticipation, wild excitement and undivided devotion to get my work done for next week. I still have not disclosed as to where I am going on my trip, but I haven’t been this excited in a long time!
Needless to say, I have my hands full this week, but it hasn’t deterred me from enjoying the little things of today.
I worked from home today, and Charlie sunbathed and ate leaves on our balcony. I couldn’t help but swing the door open and soak in this gorgeous weather. I wish it felt like this all the time.
Tonight I went to small group at Hannah’s downtown apartment. We walked through Galatians 5:16-25 and talked about the concept of keeping in step with the Spirit (v. 16).
Hannah asked us thought provoking questions, like how do we walk with the Spirit? Is there a tension connection between obedience to God and the Spirit’s supernatural work and fruition in our lives?
What we found is that walking with the Spirit is not a mystical secret; it’s actually quite practical. It’s found in obedience to God’s Word, learning His wisdom. The Spirit’s role is to help you interpret scripture, guide you, comfort you and reveal more about God the Father through His son, Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit always points to the Son. The Spirit is what makes spiritually dead people come to life. The Gospel is the key.
I’ve really enjoyed learning from the girls in our group. While most all of them are younger, they have great insight and wisdom. I love hearing about their experiences and current seasons of life. We’ve become close in the last few months, and I’m just grateful for faithful and honest community. People who walk humbly beside you in your good and bad days are my kind of people.
Now, my heart is full, but my eyes are closing slowly. I’m excited to fall asleep to Midnight in Paris once again.
Sweet dreams, friends.
