Laurel Mercantile

SEO Strategy

I spearheaded the implementation of SEO practices into Laurel Mercantile's long-term marketing strategy, writing over 250 blogs during my tenure. Focusing on creating impactful content, I crafted three blogs per week covering local tourism, weekly highlights from HGTV's HomeTown, and conducted in-depth interviews with show personalities.

Each blog was meticulously curated to include strategic plans for recipes and multimedia elements like videos and pictures, enhancing engagement and user experience.

The Strategy:

Utilize Laurel Mercantile's association with HGTV's Home Town to enhance local tourism and digital visibility. Focus on key terms such as "HGTV Home Town," "Laurel Mississippi attractions," and "southern hospitality." Implement content optimization through weekly blogs highlighting local events, behind-the-scenes insights from the show, and interviews with Erin and Ben Napier. Utilize multimedia elements and optimize for local search queries to attract visitors interested in exploring Laurel's charm and culture. Strengthen backlinking strategies with local tourism boards and lifestyle influencers to boost authority and reach.

One of my most successful blogs resulted from an interview I conducted and a viral recipe I formatted, featuring Miss Dot's Pound Cake with a secret ingredient. This blog drew hundreds of thousands of visitors to our site, captivated by the personal stories and the allure of a cherished southern recipe. The combination of storytelling, local flavor, and strategic SEO tactics propelled Laurel Mercantile's blog platform to become a cornerstone of our digital presence, fostering a strong connection with our community and beyond.

A Recipe for Success
